Mauritius accelerates towards a low-carbon economy, launches US$ 191 million project


Mauritius, one of the most economically developed states in Africa has started a environment friendly project by GCF and UNDP. The 8-year project to improve environment of the earth has a goal to increase renewable energy and reduce carbon dioxide release. Even though the contury has developed itself in tourism, transport, and information and communications technology, it has affected by outside energy shock. However, with the project, it is expected that the country to be independent on fossil fuels, which leads constant economic growth and climate.“This is an important step in achieving the goals outlined by the Paris Agreement and supporting low-carbon, climate-resilient development in Mauritius,” said UNDP Officer in Charge, Mrs. Aida Cisse Diagne.
